Zipper

Zipper is an older English Pointer mix who has spent a good part of her life at the Shelter. She is very affectionate, has lived with cats, and is house trained. Zipper gets along with some dogs, most notably our black lab, Birdie, with whom she has spent many hours enjoying a volunteer's yard.

She has a wonderful smile and is very appreciative of attention. She has waited a very long time for a home. Consider adopting or fostering this senior dog.

Senior dogs present a unique problem to the rescue community. Many older dogs are given up by their owners for a variety of reasons. Divorce, the death of an owner, a change in finances, or a change in residence are all reason that an older dog may find themselves living out their latter years at a shelter.

A mature dog has so much to offer! Often they fit very easily into a new home. They can be house trained, obedience trained, and familiar with the routines of family life. They require less entertainment than a younger dog, and can be happy just sitting by your side or taking a leisurely walk. And they are ever so grateful to regain what they have lost.  Consider adopting or fostering this senior animal.
